A fund raiser was sponsored by foundation friend and teacher Joan O’Connell at the school where she teaches. One of the students, fifth grader Tahiya Choudhury, presented us with a lovely bound book she wrote about horse care. We intend to use this beautiful and compassionate book in our equine care program. We also donated several gifts on behalf of the foundation to a NJ shelter where one of Kaeli’s college friends is interning and had our equine care students create cards for the gifts and for our own foundation as well. Our students also made eye-appealing stall plaques for some Islandia Farm school and rescue horses as well as our mustangs . They also took a field trip to visit our mustangs at their new home at the Holtsville Ecology Center and presented the mustangs’ caregivers with the stall plaques. Our students also prepared food for the Ecology Center’s animal residents and learned about horticulture.
