With the arrival of autumn, our Equine Care/Life Skills students visited Greenmeadow Farms in Little Neck. Rain was predicted but Kaeli sent us a spectacular day. Our “farm animal” experience began with petting and holding baby bunnies, chicks, and ducks. We fed the sheep, pigs and horses. Then we went on a tractor ride through the fields. You can imagine how excited the kids were when they got the opportunity to milk a gentle cow. Our last stop was the pumpkin patch, picking the perfect pumpkin to bring home.
The next week we rode and celebrated Halloween. Everyone had fun dressing up, making graham cracker haunted houses and graveyard pudding. In November, we cooked and celebrated Thanksgiving together. We gave thanks for family, teachers and friends- both human and animal.
