The Kaeli Kramer Foundation and the Muttontown Horsemen’s Association are proud to recognize the people in our community who have consistently demonstrated their commitment to improving the lives of horses, and who have worked to educate others about the humane treatment of all animals.
At our August 4th event at Planting Fields Arboretum, we honor:
Annemarie Lucas
Annemarie Lucas has helped animals for her entire life. She has starred in the long running series Animal Precinct on Animal Planet and worked as a Humane Law Enforcement Officer for the ASPCA. She has saved thousands of animal victims including our former PMU mare Sage. She lives with her husband Danny, her horse Shelby (one of Sage’s foals) and many rescued cats and dogs.
Islandia Farms
Islandia Farms owner, Jane Schmitt, Barn Manager, Justina Rexach, and riding instructor, Sue Mercil for their steadfast support of Kaeli’s foundation. Our horses receive loving care and peaceful shelter at Islandia. Under the direction of Justina our horses are restored to health. They receive individualized attention which heals their bodies and spirits.
We also run our Equine Care and Life Skills Program at this beautiful facility thanks to Jane’s generosity and the professional and enthusiastic instruction provided by Sue Mercil. Sue is an avid and expert horsewoman, who was Kaeli’s first instructor.
