On a sunny Saturday, the families who participated in the Sacred Ground Mindfulness Retreat met our horses at the beautiful Planting Fields Arboretum. The children had the opportunity to meet and groom Maurice and Goober who enjoyed the loving attention from their young friends. Dogs from Terri’s Yezzi’s rescue, Save a Tail, displayed their amazing talents on an agility course. Annie Millar and Ambrose Desmond taught children how to center themselves using their breath and send send peaceful energy to each other and to the animals. The children learned how animals respond to our energy and how to interpret an animal’s body language. Fern Dorresteyn and Michael Ciborski taught parents and children how to engage compassionate listening and skillful speaking. We took mindful steps together through the fields and meadows of the arboretum enjoying the Earth’s beauty and we left with a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of all life.
